Bushcrafter (boy, I've got a lot to say!)
Just a quick query...... Got my hands on some line bark and pondered making since cord. Every thing I read says 2 weeks in a stream... No stream close to home do was can I leave it in a bucket and change the water daily??

The bucket will do fine in this weather....basically you want anaerobic decay to rot out everything but the fibres. It's going to stink like sh1t if you're doing it right though :D
Keep the water topped up, but don't replace it every day, you want the buggits to get to work.

Troy did a tutorial years ago on this and I'm sure there have been others.

I reckon two weeks is pretty good going, it took mine five to turn the glue holding the layers together into slime.

Best of luck with it :)

cheers,
Toddy

p.s.
This site has some very, very good information and the lime processes just like the bass.

Good idea :D
The worms in the compost heap seem to like the debris. If you' really' get your bucket festering the little red sludge worms sometimes appear.

The smell is truly clinging though. After a while working with it, it must be like muck spreading, you don't notice it but everyone else certainly does
