Just seen a diamond sharpener on Lidl offers. Round one side, flat other with a groove for sharpening hooks or darts. £1.99.Any good? Are those things (a retractible sharpener =looks about pen sized with pen style clip) any good for sharpening knives?

yes its their deals from tomorrow (thursday 24th jan). It might not be in all stores but is in my local one. part of the DIY bargains.

I always keep an eye out on Lidl and Aldi. Looking for any outdoors related deals. Their cycle softshell jackets are a target for me to get (aldi). They are kind of a uniform for this informal and free cycle group I used to go out with. The Aldi and Lidl outdoor gear is supposed to be good. I got a good HRM watch from them (heart rate monitor).

If you have an android phone Paul then there is a really good, free, pulse monitor you can download.

I use it when i work out and its as accurate as my chest strap/watch type. Recommended.
