Just came across this on youtube, looks like an interesting programme. Les Stroud "Survivorman" takes his family out of the 'burbs and into the wilderness to try their hands at an alernative wilderness lifestyle.

Havent seen it for a while but I think off the grid was a year in the life of les and his family as they moved out to a cabin in the middle of nowhere with no electricity or water (hence off the grid).Quite interesting watching as he goes through setting all the solar stuff up.
Shall have to dig it out and watch it again
