I know it has been around for a few years now but I saw one the other day and I herd the little voice in the back of my head saying "buy it, buy it, buy it!"

I have various other multitools Leather man charge xti, gerber flick and Gerber diesel as well as millions of swiss army knives.

To be honest I mainly use the Leatherman around the house and when Im camping i use the deisel. (I only bought the diesel because of the cool one hand flick opening of the pliers!)

But the crunch seems to be smaller and more compact than the other two and has the locking pliers.

Does anyone on the forum own one?

Are they really useful enough to justify buying them?

Are they beter than/equal to my mentioned tools?

Am I just lusting after a new shiney thing?????

the crunch is one the cleverest, best made and least useful of the leatherman clan.

i picked one up for 15USD on clearance about five years ago, used it a couple of days. it now lives in big box with all the other ideas that didn't quite work out.

if it's cheap enough and you like it, i'd try it out. your mileage may vary.

the tool that i do carry when i need something like the crunch is the irwin/vise grip toolbox (std. jaws). i'm pretty sure they are discontinued but i've found them in pawn shops and on ebay.

they just seem to work better for me.
