Took the boys out today for their last trip before the festivities begin in a couple of days time.
For this trip we went to the private woodland i have use of, bit damp underfoot but nevertheless a great spot.

Now we have a base it's time to get the kettle on

after a nice cuppa we went for a wander round the woods, found loads of Birch polypore
Back to camp and time for some lunch, simple bread dough wrapped around a stick and cooked over the fire
Little un had a little acident during lunch, he was walking around with a half litre of hot chocolate and tripped over a hidden branch in the leaf litter, result, covered head to toe, thankfully the choc was not hot only luke warm, but it was in his hair, down his face, shirt, trousers, after checking to make sure he was ok it was time to dry off, shirt over the fire, trousers, well he had to wear them, so he stood by the fire to dry off
eldest sat down to some carving whilst littleun was content to sit and watch, in between throwing his spear that i made him around
showed the boys an alternative method to suspend a pot over the fire, normally we use a simple tripod made from small branches as pictured in the above pics, so i made this for them
time was getting on a bit now and darkness was starting to descend, so we cleared up, put what was left of the fire out and returned the area to the way it was when we arrived
Real quality day out, cant wait to get back up there again after Chrimbo for a few days
