nothing i swear its just when you go to a country and westen re enactment show or a country and weston gig you are usually asked to pledge your alligence

to either the yankeys or rebels as in the american civil war and well i am a big fan of the country and westen way of life and love the cowboy way of life and i was woundering if any one else was the same so i asked them to pledge there alligence

I once had a Trip over to the US to a city called Harrisburg. We had a day trip out to visit the battlefield at Gettysburg which is not that far away.

The battlefield is huge and full of monuments to the various regiments that fought. There were also a lot of folk dressed in period kit and uniforms either re-enactors or Living Historians. We had a really good walk around and ended up visiting a feature called little round top. IIRC about 2k troops of both sides lost their lives fighting for that feature. Some folk in period kit were on the feature and it helped to evoke a basic sense of how things must have been.

We also visited The part of the battlefield where Picketts charge took place. Again IIRC about 6000 men were killed and injured in that one action on the Confederate side alone.

No one asked me to pledge my allegiance to either side while we were there.

Hey Drew,

Im sure it's a lot of fun. I went along to a local re-enactment event back in November and the guys with all the kit on we're having a blast even the ones dressed up as members of LSSAH or NKVD....

Never been to a re-enactment but I've been to quite a few rodeos (and other sporting events) They always have the National Anthem before hand and sometimes they've had the Pledge; Never in fun though and never any choice (there never was a Confederate Pledge, not even here in the deep South) It's always the same Pledge school children recite every morning before class begins.

I can easily imagine what you're describing at a Wild West show or theme park or something like though.
