sorry to the members who also use BB but i also put this over there,.



i have a few lengths of this and plan to try some scales for my Rat3

as it has a nice new sheath thanks to Ian over there i thought i,d continue the theme to the handle.

i'll knock up a firesteel too when its done..

but i just wonered if anyone has used Laburnum for re-scaling or any other task and could show us the finished item.

Stew on BB says the sapwood is a little soft, but i like how the heartwood weaves through it in a wave.

I've handled a few knives in Laburnum, its a very hard and oily wood. It can split quite easy though so be careful if pinning it.

It tends to clog up abrasives quite quick and can be hard to work, but Will make an excellent handle with low moisture absorbency.
