Has anybody ever made a webbing Belt loop to attach to a Kydex sheath as I've got a sheath with a tec-lok attachment but the handle carries to high, So I'm thinking of trying to make a Dangler of sorts or get 1 made If can find someone to make me 1.
I've been searching online and have found accouple which almost fit the bill.
Cheers

Can you post photos of your sheath? And can the teclock be removed easily or is it riveted? Also what's behind the teclok and can what it was attached to be used as an attachment point for a webbing loop?

You don’t need to rivet the webbing. You can use black PVC down pipe material, drilled to match sheath eyelet locations, with slots that you thread the webbing through, then sew the webbing. Many options depending on what hardware you have available. You could make a slotted piece to screw to sheath like a giant three bar slider.

how would you shape the pvc to match the sheath?! (i wear my sheath in a different style - see post #2 -- but in case i'd decide one day to go back to belt carry your idea would be a solution for me

Shape PVC same as Kydex; hot air gun, forms, gloves, saws, files, sanding. If the Kydex has a click fit, got to be careful that the belt mount doesn’t touch above the last rivet or add to the resistance when drawing the knife. Kydex sheath, PVC belt loop, formed around wood slats.

This is the sheath that I wanted to modify to a drop style / normal belt carry.
And I think the above mod would be alot easier and practical actually cheers Clay.
I'm sure the 1 sided attachment is safe but I don't like the thought of only 1 side of the tec-lok being fixed.
I was thinking of just adding 1 piece of kydex to the back and then fixing the tec-lok to that as normal, but the 1 sheet layer would be to sharp.
Cheers

I would ditch the idea of using the Tek-Lok to connect to a belt if it isn’t directly mounted to the sheath. I think one loses too many of the benefits and gets too many disadvantages.

If you don’t like the idea of so much plastic forming, you can go about using eyelets to mount webbing to sheath, but I would still recommend mounting the webbing to a piece of Kydex, ABS or PVC an then mounting that to the sheath, through the same eyelets if the webbing is wide enough. That will allow the same eyelets used for Kydex to go through the webbing.
Punching the holes in the webbing can be a PITA. Punch first if you can, but you should finish with melting so the cut edges seal.
There are lots of ways you could do it. Much easier on that great wide pancake sheath than on a taco style.

Yeah I've looked at loads of vid's and tutorials on how to do it and I'm now going right off this method as you mentioned the extra hassle and when I offered all the components up to the sheath earlier I found that a Thumb push sheath would be more suitable for the webbing belt, as I feel I would be yanking the knife out or would need to leg tie it for ease of use and I ain't going down that route.

No problem,
But why do you keep calling me by half my last name?
If you gotta call me something other than my screen name, try Chris. ;)

Will do Chris and I searched the shed high and low this morning and found afew 10mm barrel Chicago screws and guess what they won't fit due to the rivets that are already in the sheath sods law.
I'm going to buy some more today then see if I still have to remove the original rivets in the sheath.

That is odd. Can you photograph the screws? I don’t suppose you have any Vernier callipers to measure screws or eyelet bores?

The eyelets in the sheath should be fine with Chicago screws sold by the Identity Store and similar leather working screws. Bind post screws might be different.

These bind posts fit the eyelets too.

I know there are different sizes of eyelet, but the standard fit in 1/4 inch drilled holes and take the Chicago screws I have perfectly. The fasteners on the TekLok are close to the same diameter barrel. I would try to find fitting screws before drilling out existing eyelets.

It's the length of the barrel / post and yeah I could remove the rivets on the sheath and try to fit them, But in all honestly I think I'm gonna scratch this up to a fire and forget project I'll consider buying the other style of sheath like the 1 you showed me with the Thumb push, but it's to near xmas to lose the plot over this.
Cheers for all of your help

The belt loop has arrived and fair play it looks the part I just have to fix it to the sheath.
