Needs some neatsfoot oil and not 100% sure about the top of it - might trim it closer to the blade - but glad I've now managed to protect the axe (and me!). Before the SE lot chip in, no, it's not my "rubber axe", it's the one that Hugo rehandled (in apple) and sold me at a meet last year

Britannia!
it'll lokk good when finished mate ;)

I'd say trim a little off the top to make it more like the bottom half, and that handle looks so nice!

Can't take credit for the handle - that's Hugo's workmanship.

Gave it a wipe with some neatsfoot & then some Effax which it soaked up like a sponge - has gone a beautiful brown colour. I think I will trim it, yes, as it looks a bit odd at the moment

Spandit mate nice, try will stop you cutting yourself.
As Samon has mentioned the top half needs to mirror the bottom half to make the it fit better, trace it out and cut it, might not need to do anything else.
Nice apple handle by the way.

Robbi, other side is sewn on. There was a clamp mark from when the hide was tentered and the strap covers it perfectly

Function over form? A backhanded compliment if ever I heard one :D Will have a look at trimming the top bit this morning & post back

Have trimmed it a bit - due to the shape of the head it's not easy to trim more. Looks better for the leather treatment too

It's cheap leather from Le Prevo that's cheap because it has the odd scar/crease in it. I like the way it adds character to things

The perfect axe mask for a Kent pattern I bought today (due to be sent away to a deserving member here) is the mask for the Husqvarna I've had for ages.
It actually fits the Kent...I knew it was the perfect fit for something.
