I have a carbon steel Karesuando knife - it has been in storage for some time and needless to say the blade has tainted!

Is their any way to clean it up to original quality?

Many thanks
Alex

By "tainted" I'm assuming that you mean it has developed a patina (as opposed to gone rusty).
This patina is a mild oxidisation of the surface of the steel and will not do it any harm, in fact there are those who will purposefully put a patina on a blade in order to give it that "used" look and because the patina offers a little extra protection agains rusting.
To remove a patina any good metal polish will do. I use Autosol Chrome Polish. It comes in a tube and is similar to toothpaste, but any similar product would do the job for you. Just be sure to mind your fingers when polishing ! ;)

Thanks for that LS - it's not that I dislike it per se, as the knife is their to perform not look good!

But it is nice to know that it can be achieved if required.

Thanks again.
