"Ka-bar ing" a khukri

Guys some advice please, I have a Khukri the same as the one in this thread;

But I don't like the handle and would like to change it to a series of compacted leather a la original Ka-bars. Any advice please? I don't have any great metal skill nor a workshop set up. Another query is how to repeatedly cut out the same size leather disk?

Quickest and easiest way to cut them is to make your own punch.

All you need is a piece of pipe the right internal diameter and sharpen the edge that's going to be the punch then start cutting the leather out

Do you know what the tang is like? I'd wonder if leather washers would be suitable for most that I've seen.

Do you need to? the handle on my Ka-Bar USMC knife is barrel shaped with grooves in it that looks like it was turned on a lathe.. Could you not stack a bunch of square/odd shaped bits of leather, then whittle / sand it to shape after?

I was going to put them on oversized and then sand afterwards but wanted a rough shape to make it a little easier. I don't suppose you have the circumference of the Ka-Bar handle?

Ged, no idea what the tang will be like but I do find the buffalo horn a bit of a pain.
