I have a K&M brass match case which has never been used or carried. It is an early model so the compass under the black covering in the lid is blue It is still in the original bag that I received it in when it was easy to get stuff from the USA.

Further update. I have never used this item and your question made me curios so I checked the black covering and it does have a compass under the black lid. The compass is set in solid brass. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.
