I think 'Huge furry whittlin' tool' makes some nettle beer on one of his programmes. I havn't made any myself but I have drunk some that a friend made. Not a bad drink. You can also make some non-alcoholic nettle 'beer'/drink for the kids.

That first recipe for the "stronger" beer had remarkably little sugar in it. presumably a lot comes from the nettles themselves.

Could you extract sugar from nettles then?
