I've picked up a few Moras since I've been hanging aroud BCUK, never had heard of them before but am very impressed. An excellent value imho, but I am curious about this model:

Why so pricey? Handle and sheath? I'm not in shopping mode, just wondering.

This website has a few interesting (to me) tools. Any expeience with or comments, ideas, on a couple of items would be greatly appreciated. I've absolutely no connection to this site nor have ever ordered from them. Some items on this site appear to be way overpriced gucci kit and some appear a decent value. :dunno:

Any thoughts on this Japanese Crosscut Timber saw?

Never used a Gimlet but would like a set someday. Scotch-eyed maybe for a mini tool kit. Anyway, these are the only ones I have ever seen:

One more item of possible interest to some maybe this Japanese Brass Cased Knife:

One more; Anyone know what brand of axes these are?
http://www.garrettwade.com/swedish-hand-forged-axes/p/26D12.01/
They don't seem to specify.

Again, just curious, web surfing to pass the time. All replies appreciated. :)

I don't think it's a "Mora" brand, but made in the town of Mora.
Also, the laminated steel will bump the price up.

Yes, Ive seen laminated Moras too.

The Japanese brass cased knife is a worthwhile thing to have, and that looks a decent price too.

Ive got one. I love it.

(be warned its uncomfortable to hold for too long. And it tends to shut itself, that lever is there for a reason. But these problems can be resolved with no big difficulty)

That expensive Mora was made by Frosts Knife Company, one of the companies that came together and became Mora of Sweden, the other company was KJ Eriksson. That model is #277 and it has laminated steel, rosewood handles, brass fittings and a leather sheath with a keeper strap that hooks onto the little ball on the end of the handle so the knife doesn't fall out.
So basically, it's a high end Mora knife, but still a Mora knife, I've seen better prices though, and worse ones.

It is swanky isnt it?

But Id rather get the blade and customise it myself.
Ya it's a nice knife but I'd rather customize a normal one as well, it would be a lot cheaper I'm sure.

the axes are Wetterlings

I have one, they are good.

cant vouch for the price. I got it in a trade

Thanks, if those are Wetterlings then that is a terrible price. For example the 13" Swedish Camper's Hatchet appears to be the Wetterlings 13" Wildlife Axe. $90, have seen them for $50.
