Does anyone keep the number of a local wildlife rescue organisation on their phone?
Last night I found a Barn Owl on the side of the road looking a bit miserable and tucked up. It didn't put up too much of a fight when I tried to catch it (apart from puncturing a hole in my finger) so I decided I couldn't leave him there and had to find someone to take him which wasn't going to be easy at that time of night. Luckily a friend works for a local vets and after a call to them they found a guy from City Wildlife Care in Newport who could meet me to take the bird into care. It looked a bit dodgy trading rare birds in a carpark late at night mind.
It got me thinking though that having a contact number to hand for stuff like this would be useful for a lot of people. Especially if you're not a fan of the RSPCA...
I'm waiting for a call today to let me know how it's getting on but they've said I can be there if they can release it which will be great. Fingers crossed for him anyway.
