Certainly looks like a quarry, but it's the dam wall of a reservoir.

That was my favourite spot from the day.
Never been there before as it's private, but I'm rapidly gaining a lot of permission to access areas like this and word is spreading fast because people are really keen to know if they have otters on their land. Also rather heartening to hear that the lake owners don't mind fish going missing (they're not commercial ventures) as they'd rather have the otter visiting.

I shall have to try and drum it into myself to take more photos when I'm about, I never seem to do many of the actual landscape either.
