I've been watching Jupiter with the naked eye for the past month or so, I now have my two year old opening the curtain at night and pointing out 'jooopitr' to all.

The moons you will see with a pair of binoculars are Europa, Ganymede, Callisto and possibly Io. You can see them all, but of course you can only look at Europa, you must 'attempt no landings there'.

Is this with clear skies, as I do watch Jupiter and Saturn as well as Venus, but I've seen no moons or rings.
Out of interest
Venus the morning star as it's most visible at dawn and dusk
Jupiter the even star as it does not tend to meander
Polaris is the load star I believe but I could be wrong

I have been looking for Mars but it appears to be blotted out by Venus in these skies, and now it will not be visible until spring 2016 or at least autumn, is this right?
