Had a walk down to the Manchester European Market in St Ann's Square today and spotted a Polish Mead stall so obviously I had to investigate

There we 4 different types for sample ranging from £6 to £15 per bottle and the prices truly reflected the quality.

I did the decent thing and went for the good stuff which is the Jadwiga and have to say it's very nice.

If anyone visits the market then I recommend you try it.

I may get a bottle for a passaround at the Middlewood meet.

There are several different names for the various different names (for example Piatniak which is 1 in 5 honey to póltorak which is half and half)
The manes all represent the ratio of honey and the lower the number in the name the better the quality. I can write more if your interested.
In general it is drunk warm in Poland. My Dad liked to leave it sat in the aga.

This bottle says poltorak which was in my opinion the nicest. When you say ratio, what is in ratio to honey/mead?
