Had a walk down to the Manchester European Market in St Ann's Square today and spotted a Polish Mead stall so obviously I had to investigate :naughty:

There we 4 different types for sample ranging from £6 to £15 per bottle and the prices truly reflected the quality.

I did the decent thing and went for the good stuff which is the Jadwiga and have to say it's very nice.

If anyone visits the market then I recommend you try it.

I may get a bottle for a passaround at the Middlewood meet. ;)

There are several different names for the various different names (for example Piatniak which is 1 in 5 honey to póltorak which is half and half)
The manes all represent the ratio of honey and the lower the number in the name the better the quality. I can write more if your interested.
In general it is drunk warm in Poland. My Dad liked to leave it sat in the aga.
