Theres a book about him, dated but well worth a read, free on kindle. 'Hunting with the bow and arrow' by Saxton Pope.

The indian hunters got $5 per head, and .50 cents for each scalp. They stopped using big bore rifles, as when they shot into the villages, the babies would explode...........horrendous.
