Interesting Projects Using AI

I must admit, I have historically been a little reluctant to use AI (ChatGPT and so on). But, I do also think one of the most interesting things about us human folk is our ability to employ tools, build on what's gone before and use technology to reach previously unimaginable heights.

In that spirit, I've been playing around on ChatGPT to get some help with a few projects for work. After a fairly lengthy back-and-forth, some revision and refinement I've just printed off this collaborative document. It's a 30 page working edition of an East Anglian dialect dictionary.

I'm pretty impressed with what can be achieved in a fairly short amount of time.






So, have you used AI (ChatGPT or any others of that ilk) for any projects that we might find interesting?

I've been using it to extract valuable historic data from old annual reports - it's very effective. But, it's taken me a long time to learn exactly how to get the best out of it. I've also had to pay for a pro service; the standard free one can't go away and do work without constant interaction - i.e. a conversation.

I use Claude a lot at work. It’s a very valuable tool when used well, saves me hours of grunt work with work tasks which allows me to focus on more of the ‘real’ thinking.

Dangerous in the hands of someone without experience who doesn’t know enough to spot when it’s screwed up - but plenty of tools are dangerous in that regard. Know its (and your) limitations and it’s a tool that’s very good at what it does when wielded appropriately.
