This came up on one of the Facebook fungus group pages, strange these mushrooms seem to have the same effect on everyone, they see tiny little elves/people everywhere yet no psychoactive compounds have been discovered. I recently read an article on DMT, another hallucinatory substance, where many different people were reporting meeting the same entities while under the influence, particularly a purple skinned woman.

I found it especially interesting that this is a bolete, as far as I'm aware there are no other boletes with psychedelic properties. Interested to see what research comes out on these.

Whatever it is in the mushroom that causes the visions is a mystery. Gotta say, they sound like fun, not that I'm advocating the use of psychedelics of course. :)

Reminds my of my teenage years as a lad. Although I never saw any small people or anything like that just lots of bright colours. :D

Crazy to think they were legal until something like 2007 and then it was decided that they were a Class A drug - madness! Yet alcohol can be bought at every corner shop.

I legally bought some from a shop when they were legal in my later teens, was kind of fun (under the supervision of my older brother) but I haven’t been tempted since, just not my bag.

Just don’t really see what the justification is for classifying them alongside heroin and crack cocaine, especially now there is strong evidence that they can be used to effectively treat serious cases of PTSD and depression.

I never knew that. For some reason I've always thought they were illegal.

Drugs are not my bag either. Certainly not as an adult although I did dabble a bit several decades ago when I was a dumb kid. Ironically I found alcohol to be the strongest and most overpowering drug of all.
