I used to think that way also. The problem is that by the time you have the leisure time (say after retirement) you usually are no longer physically fit enough.

Ed is a Marmite kinda guy in adventure biking circles
People either love him 'cos he just gets on and does it without any fuss, usually on a moped
Other people hate him 'cos he just gets on and does it without any fuss, and not a £20k BMW

I've not read his book or seens his vids but I like his spirit
There are loads of folks going off doing the round the world (RTW) thing. My heroes are the campers who occasionally slum it in a hotel rather than the roomies or couch slummers.
Some of the ingenuity they come up with for fully loading a 2 wheeled machine is brilliant
