Hudson bay trade knife...hobo style...

Ive been hankering after a big camp knife and like the look of the condor hudson bay ones but am too cheap to blow another 40quid on another knife. Im into making my own kit at the moment so i decided to make my own.

take one rusty old machete...

eyeballed the pattern, true hobo style, no measurements here...

cut, cool, cut repeat

filed a bevel.

leather thong handle, might make some wooden scales

batons thin stuff ok...

Just need to make a sheath for her now. 😄

thats some proper knife making there fella, if that was a tramontina or similar it should make a cracking camp knife

are you just gonna put the original handle back on, or go posh and make a new one?

The original handle is long gone. Might put scales on or just a better leather wrap or maybe some jute micarta...
