Good question Jaykay, I was thinking the same myself last week but some threads already on here may help... (search "mosquito hammock")

I read these and then decided to buy two expedition hammocks. Haven't received the hammocks yet (they were only posted on Monday) but so far he's kept me very well informed via email. They seem like very good value too.

Good luck!

They are ace! I got my jungle hammock a while back and I believe that Tom has added some of my suggestions into the new hammocks such as kit hooks on the net and net 'bags' at head and foot areas for keeping stuff inside. They are the most stable hammock design I have tried as long as you wrap each each strap around the outside of the tree so that it's a bit like this: 0><==><0 if you understand that!! You simply can't rock yourself out.

The mosi net has loops for placing sticks in to work as spreader bars, and I carve two at night around the camp fire with little nocks in. These make great kindling in the morning..

I got two, and gave one to a mate who is used to sleeping in bivvy bags in bushes, but now he is fully converted. I bought a tatonka 3mx3m tarp which I hang using bungees on the ends (diagonally) and two tent pegs for the middle bits.

When it's drizzling and I want to cook or anything I use a bungee on one side corner with a stick as a tent pole so that the tarp is high and level. If it's dry, I unpeg one side and throw it over the middle ridge so that it lies on the other side. This gives more access for getting to the hammock or kit, yet can be thrown and pegged back in seconds if the weather changes.

I really don't think you would be dissapointed with your purchase if you bought one. Mine took about a month to arrive due to customs (they are coming from Thailand where Tom lives for now) but was worth the wait. Tom is good at keeping his customers informed of the status. I have no affiliation to Tom or his products, but recognise a good product when i see one, and would like to spread the word.
