How to sharpen a spoonknife?

I have a Svante Djärv spoon knife.
What is the correct way to sharpen, and keep sharp, one of these?
I have searched but not found any good posts on the topic.

Camelia oil

Wood Craft Supplies sell it. Not cheap but apparently it was what the Samurai used to protect their precious swords. Interesting "felt tip pen"-bottle applicator available too.
I guess they didn't have access to Lidl rapeseed oil! Perhaps it doesn't go off/rancid? (Something to consider with blades used to prepare food.)
