Norwegian food container hot / cold food drinks. 18 litre insulated British Army

I'm picking up another one of these. More for the internal containers than anything.

It has a small crack on the inside lip -:-

Just musing if its fixable in a semi - decent way , and how best to accomplish that.
I know there are a few tinkerers out there that love a good charity case pity project ( Landrover enthusiasts... I'm looking at you... :) )

Ideas? Materials?

Maybe have a look at super glue and baking powder/bicarb (I forget which)?

Also - and just asking , anyone have a source or lead on where I can get replacement parts for the inside bits? missing a few lids and containers.

I have seen that used for other things and it may well be the way to go.. If I do I will do a test case first on something more sacrificial.

Some car plastic part repairers are very good at fixing things like that if it is made of similar materials that they usually fix.

I just looked at sugru as a possibility but it doesn't stick well to polyethylene or polypropylene. Any idea of the inner material?

I've got Two complete ones in the garage and just had a look and feel - so its not a semi-flexible material but a very rigid plastic material - It feels much like old school bath material - got that sort of rigid slickness to it , so Nigel and TLM's suggestion maybe a better solution to explore. Many thanks.

potentially just superglue will be enough as it's not a crack to fill but a crack to push back together. Is it a plastic material that could use a solvent glue to melt itself to each other? (Thinking pipe weld)

Its rigid - definitely wont push back together - its more hard acrylic than malleable plastic.

What are you going to use it for ? If it's not hot food, then the sugru stuff will do. If it's hot/cold, etc., then I reckon the acrylic bath repair stuff's a good idea :)

I have two already - unbroken - the one I'm buying has Two of the internal tupperware units that slip inside - I'm mostly buying it for a song just for those - but If I can repair it and move it on - I will. :)

Resin and glass fibre mesh fabric ... though any toughish fabric will do.

If the gap won't close then the only realistic possible option is a bath repair kit as it might(!) be hidden then but only if the white colours match well enough and you can finish it well. Otherwise, you might as well just try sell it on as is.

Is it maintaining temperature okay? If it is I would worry about the crack unless I was going to be using it for dispensing liquids. If it's only going to be used with the containers or as a cooler, it should be fine as is. If you do need the repair, I'd probably go for two pack epoxy, although opinions vary on how food safe they are, even the ones that are rated food safe!
