Was given a couple of these for Christmas, they're only a pound a pair. They're single use (i.e. not rechargeable), chemical handwarmers.
To activate, just open the packet. Inside is what looks like a large teabag. After a few seconds it heats up to a hot, but comfortable temperature
I activated one last night as I was in my hammock at about 11:30pm. The packet said up to 10 hours of heat but I didn't believe that.
This morning, however, at 9:30am it was still giving off plenty of heat! I was very impressed.
Not the biggest unit so won't realistically heat a cold sleeping bag but I imagine with one in each glove you'd have toasty hands on a cold day.
Pros: cheap, easy to use, long lasting, compact
Cons: not rechargeable
Highly recommended!
