Ok I've had about 10 burns of stove and some modifications.

So far my conclusions are.
1) rope round stove door makes it far more controllable. There is less cool air mixing under stove top and cooling flu temperatures

2) thermal mass if you like,a big log and smaller burnable instantly materials are a plus. You want to keep flu gases hot and kiln dried logs seem to give wood achohol or gasification effect.

4) large logs only become charcoal and flu cools and it goes out.

5) Swedish fire top down better burn less smoke

I don't think it will be perfect ever, however the door gasket and mixture of small and large wood keep heat contained in fire box and
90% less heat lost up chimney.

I search for a cheap cake rack locally to fit with a trim

we are on the cusp of a paradigm shift
Yep, good to see those increasingly familiar words, I’m right on this and following Danny Sheehans Paradigm Institute and the Skywatcher guys very closely. Quite how people are missing it all is beyond me. :alien2:
