Hello all.

Long time lurker here. I've picked up some great tips by reading here over the last few months - thank you.

A bit about me…

I got into bushcraft when we had a power cut at home. Some of my son's essential medical kit (BiPAP) failed and I quickly cobbled together a battery backup which got me into thinking how I could keep this kit going for longer than one night without power. I invested in a couple of portable solar panels and went from there.

That got me wondering if I could now take my own CPAP machine into the woods, so I had a go. The CPAP worked but my bushcraft skills weren't up to much and I had a cold night!

I signed myself up for a Woodland Ways foraging day and caught the Dutch Oven bug. From there on I re-evaluated my kit list and every now and then go out for a night or a weekend to practice bits and bobs.

Just recently I went on the Woodland Ways weekend and had a great time. Stayed warm through an overnight low of -1.5°C and am hooked.

I blog every now and then about my trips out and other things: http://hotchpotchblog.wordpress.com
I also write a sleep science blog: http://hypnagogia.info

Looking forward to posting.

Hello :) and welcome to the virtual campfire :)

Interesting to read about the sleeping and the issues involved. The seasonal aspect is often overlooked, but I find it varies enormously throughout the year, both in duration and quality. Interested too to hear about the quality of 'outside' sleep vs indoors :)

cheers,
Toddy
