Does anyone have experience of using any of Henry Shires' tarptents in this country, particularly the squall2 or cloudburst2? Also anyone know if they are for sale over here? I know I could buy straight from the US but am worried about VAT and import duties etc being slapped onto the price.

thanks.

I have a tarptent virga and great backpacking shelters they are too. They are made from silicone impregnated nylon and are really well thought out and made to a very good spec.
They are single skin as you will have seen from the website and you really need to use it as a tarp and not a tent unless it`s really p*ssing down in the direction of the doors
otherwise you are asking for condensation build up.That said I have slept happily with the doors rolled back and the net doors closed. It is worth getting the goundsheet option a bit more money, but more protection.
For three season backpacking I don`t think there is much to beat Henry`s great little tents.
Litefoot.:)
I did get stung for import tax,but worth every penny.
