Hi all
Hoping there will be some people here who wouldn't mind helping me with my dissertation.
My work is exploring the relationship between bushcraft and connection to place.
I need people who wouldn't mind having an informal interview either in person or skype/phone about their personal experiences.
If you're interested, please PM me.

Thank you all in advance.

Hello AJ374. I don't know whether you are aware but it is considered a bad idea to post your email address on open forums. It's your security, so it is your choice, but for the time being I have removed it in case you were not aware of the risks. There is a Private Message facility here, I don't know how many you get as a basic member, but it is probably enough so that you can receive contacts from people without your email being in the open.

We have had similar requests before and I think the folk got rather short shrift. The problem is that this forum is a place for people to learn, contribute, and share. A request for to interview/survey people to help with you doing work for which you get marks is a little different from asking for help with learning a skill.

To stack the odds in your favour, how about you share a little more about yourself? What is this dissertation for, (PhD?) what are your experiences or interests in bushcraft and how did you come to choose this subject? Finally, I don't know how to interpret what you really mean by
My work is exploring the relationship between bushcraft and connection to place.
It might be very clear to you, but I don't think it will be clear to many other folk and it would be in your interest to be clear so that more people understand exactly what it is that you want to know about.

Good luck.

Thanks C_Claycomb I was not aware of this but I will be sure to remember it.

My dissertation is for my BA. I am exploring how our bushcraft practises create a connection with the places we use. 'Place' is a concept with a lot of research around it and put simply - The emotional connections we make to a specific location (a location being different from a Place as location suggests a lack of an emotional connection) i.e. a grid reference means nothing but your childhood home would conjure memories. I want to explore if by doing bushcraft in a specific place (an owned section of woodland etc) we create emotional connections through the activities and how this links to the research. Hopefully that clears it up some?

As for myself I live in the Lake District and I am vice chair of the university bushcraft club. I'm interested in wood carving and other 'natural' crafts. I am very much interested in outdoor living in general and all things bushcraft!

As I work with the club and spend most of my time outdoors, naturally I was drawn to studying bushcraft for my dissertation. There isn't much in the way of academic study around bushcraft as a academic subject and I am studying under a renowned bushcraft practitioner (unsure if it would be impolite to name them here) and so I wished to explore the subject. I am also interested in the concept of 'Place' as I feel bushcraft has strong links with the concept and hence my interest in discovering more.

Please let me know if you have anymore questions, I greatly appreciate the feedback.
