It's one of those ideas that's been in the back of my head for ages and iI'm getting nearer to trying it.

Question is what kind of nails for the metal band on the peg?

1/2" panel pins or small tacks? thinking tacks might be too thick.

I'll use willow or hazle and apparently a favoured band was a condensed milk tin (means I can eat the condensed milk).

I had planned on making my own churi knife but finding a non-stainless blade at the local market wasn't easy so that might have to be stainless.

Anyone up for a "show me your gypsey pegs" thread of a "gypsey peg challenge"?

I made a load with Mot last summer and was fun doing them.

We used strips from beer cans with panel pins and they worked well. Just remember that the nail goes in at right angles to the split :)
