Hello,

I'm a long term lurker, but recently decided to register!

Spent a lot of my youth building shelters and camping etc with the scouts and now I'm much older but regularly kayak and cycle.

A recent overnight Welsh trip to the woods has rekindled my desire to get back out in the woods, so I've been dusting down my kit.

I'm based in Reading, so if anyone has any suggestions for places to go localy it would be appreciated - I've noticed a few members from Aldershot/Surrey etc.

I've earmarked a few spots nearby, and was thinking about a walk on the Ridgeway. I've also been looking at a couple of canoe or bike trips after reading www.bikeandbivi.co.uk. Getting away for long weekends is a little tricky at the moment, hence looking for more local spots.

I'm doing lots of reading at the moment as there's loads of great content here, but I'm sure I'll get more involved once I've digested everything ;-)

Cheers

Hey Simon,

Good to see another reading resident!

Any local suggestions welcomed - I don't think Prospect park would be a good idea ;-)

And hello back from Berkshire. you really do have a good choice locally.

i love the Chilterns, very close and some lovely terrain. West Berks/Wiltshire also good.

I am planning doing the Ridgeway next weekend - school finishes and i need a few days of solitude to get the hustle and bustle of teaching out of my system.
