Helle Eggen or Helle Odel?

Hi,
at the moment my current bushcraft knife is a frosts clipper but i am thinking of getting something a bit more beautiful. I have heard that helle offer some good knives and have researched their product range. I am now torn between the Helle eggen and the helle odel.
i am not sure which one to get. Please could somone help me decide, i need to know which is more robust, reliable and functional as a bushcraft knife.

Hi there and welcome,

Helle make some great knives, don't think you'll go far wrong with either.

Try and find somewhere that keeps them in stock and try them in the hand if you can.

Try them in the hand if you can, definitely. The Eggen will be better if you have a bigger hand. The Odel handle is thinner and the blade shorter - all in all a smaller knife. The Eggen has an excellent 'bushcraft' reputation and it is cheaper. I guess you've also considered the Harding? Chris

I recently got the helle fjelkniv and i love it. It does have a gaurd but hasn;t subtracted from any uses. usual discamer- i am in no way involved with this company ect ect.

On looks alone id opt for the odel, i dont really like the eggen.

But as others said try have a hold of them before you decide.

I was originally going to go for the eggen, but then i heard a few stories about the eggens handle becoming loose and the blade breaking off after prelonged use. This made me skeptical of the eggens performance, now i have had a mora for 5 years and abused the hell out of it, however it is still in perfect condition (apart from some cosmetic scratches).
The thing is, i need to know how strong and robust the knife i am going to get will be. i am also currently on a budget at the moment because i am buying a new air rifle along with the new knife. i will see if i can get a hold of the two knives before i make my final choice.
