Found a young hedgehog on the front doormat;it's about 12cms long and not at all lively.

I picked it up and it curled into a ball;took it to the bottom of the back garden and left it in the vegetation.

An hour later it was back on the front door mat in the sun.

What do I do,leave it alone, feed it or what???

if it is mother less there is a good chance that it may not be able to put on enough weight to hibernate (if they hibernate under weight they starve to death) 6 years ago me and partner looked after 5 through the winter we had to make sure they did not hibernate and feed everyday .

this is a useful site (indeed it was keith who asked us to look after the hedgehogs) you can call them direct for advice and they are more than happy to help - have found them much more helpful than the rspca and at times more knowledgeable.
