We used to fit RiRi Zips to the leather motorcycle jackets, jeans, boots, one piece racing and two piece touring suits we made.

These military spec' zips had been tested to extremes without failure, and we never had one fail on all the gear we sold.

UK supplier, here.

How heavy a duty?

I have a some 26" long 6mm (I think) black YKK coil zips here - I'll post one down for you to try if you like. They're obviously plastic, but might be good enough? They're closed at the bottom end, and open at the top, but you could easily cut to size and sew across the open end to act as a stopper for the slider.

PM me your address if you're interested.

I'm guessing you've tried Magdalen st and the city Market?

you could try Boats and bits (St Benedicts st ), I know they used to repair rucksacks and tents so they may have some.

The reference to mil-spec grade zips might be the key here as I have purchased one or two seriously distressed US fishtail parkers in the past (the ones with the zip-in liners) simply to recover the amazing zips they sport.

You can quite easily shorten them too.;)

Cheers
