Having taken a new liking to my old opinel knifes again I decided to revamp one with a bit of old antler.

1st a I decommissioned my old one;

Made a brass D ring with a bit of heavy brass wire I had

Bit of leather work and it was done....this will join me on my camping trips now I reckon.

It feels reassuringly heavy in the hand, antler had a brass end cap and D ring. Very solid knife and no play in the blade after I added a shim.

rather pleased with how it turned out considering the knife was only a tenner and it looks much more vintage and expensive now.

Thanks for looking at another of my shed enterprises!

Cheers all, fixed the locking ring so it rotates a bit more freely. I have purposefully left it stiff as
When locked open it's basically a fixed blade. It's taken it's place as my permanent camping folder.

Nice, i've taken to pocketing my no.9 a lot nowadays, sanded coat ,stained dk brown,rounded the scales,patinated blade and i take some metal off the blade near the pivot to make it sit 'straight' when deployed.
