I was looking at and handling the hultafors axe range at the D&M Tool Show at Kempton Park racecourse at the weekend and was quite impressed with how good they were and the prices compared to the Gransfors and Wetterlings which I have, they look to be decent axes at very good prices.
I have a Hultafors classic and while its heavier and thicker in cross section than yer ol' friend the GFB its still a lovely piece and holds an edge very well. Longer handle gives a more powerful and safer swing and only real drawback for me is not having its own sheath.
I work for Forestry Commission Scotland and recently discovered three brand new GFB axes at the back of a cupboard. Would have to say the GFB is the better tool but still love the Hulatfors.
