Hi all,

I've managed to buy:-

Nomad's Land Hammock

&

Pyramid Mosquito Net.

I already have 2 Hootchies.

Would some kind soul please give me some advise on how to set it all up? Esp. regarding tying tapes to tree for hammock, fitting mozzy net, rigging the hootchie, guylines........ Ahhh - basically the whole lot :lmao:

I've never slept out unless in a tent :( and I really feel that I am missing a lot. Any help appreciated.

Best regards,

Phil.

Great link Ogri, so I will be brief. As has been said MANY times before this is my way ... Others may do differently but heres a starter.
The ideal distance between trees is around 6.0meters. The ideal height for your hammock is sitting height.
Find trees! Tie hammock at eye height between using a round turn and two half hitches on the hooks and the tree end OR if you can do a clove hitch all the better (this has things to do with rain running down the lines!!)
Do not pull the lines tight , but leave a little belly in the hammock. This can be adjusted later as you may find the sides too constricting if the hammock is pulled straight. Sit in it, lie in it... Comfy. Good. Run another line above the hammock lines real tight this time Round turn and hitches again). Lay tarp over in diamond shape and using two short lines already fitted to diagonals & tie to the tight line. (I use a rolling hitch as this is quick and easily adjustable) Tie on guy lines and peg down. Add more guys as necessary. Adjust to suit.
This set up should be ok to walk under by bending a little. Hang net under using the tarp ridge and buzzymosts will be kept clear.
The closer the tarp is to the hammock the less driven rain can get in. But not so low that you can't get under.
I hope this helps and there is much pleasure in messing about with all this stuff!
