Gutted!!!

so i'm officially gutted! i'd been making some lamps for mountainm on my lathe. i got the first one finished and made a start on the second. i thought the tmber i was using was well seasoned...obviously not

Ahh heck that hurts. Hate it when that happens. I lost a few spinning tops that way last year.

Ouch, had that happen to staves many times. Some of my best too
If you are in any doubt work the piece in stages slowly and store in a plastic bag with a few holes in.. The old weighing scales trick is a dead give away if the wood is still losing moisture and weight.
