  • Merry Christmas Guest, we hope that you have a great day wherever you are, and we're looking forward to hearing of your adventures in the New Year!
I had a very special day today. Or more poignantly a good friend had a special day.

We gathered to help bury him at Westcombe Hill Burial Ground in Somerset. http://www.woodlandburials.org/

It’s a fantastic setting and it is all genuinely earth friendly. It is very atmospheric and feels like a very “safe” place to leave your loved ones “old clothes”. Although the occasion was a very sad one, I have got to say this was a sending off I thoroughly enjoyed being part of.

My friend was in a beautiful wicker coffin as you can’t use any hardwoods or man made materials. The place has fantastic ethics and more need to be made available around the UK.

It must be great to make a return via nature into the afterlife.

I'm sorry your friend is no longer with you here, but I do agree, of all the ways to tidy up the remains decently, I reckon this is the best :approve:

We need more sites like this, and sites where they pay heed to the underlying geology of the site too, so that rapid decomposition occurs and the lairs can be reused by family without taking up more and more land.

cheers,
Toddy

Sorry for your loss, My Mother and law was laid to rest in crossway at Chariton Bishop Exeter in the same fashion. We come from the earth and we return to it, The circle of life. Planning mine and my wifes the same way. Not in a rush though.

sorry to hear of the loss, im very pro the idea, its one of the green ideas of today that is using past tradisions in realisatioon that we were greener in the past..

ide prefer if someone left my corpce in a raised platform untill im just bones and then the bones burred in a leather urn in a peat bog.. ... to be carrian for the birds, but british law is a little opossed to that practise
