I've just seen one pecking away at the peanut feeder hanging in the Rowan tree in the front garden :) Thought excellent, then went to have a read up about them.

Not quite so pleased now; I have a huge range of little birds coming into my garden and they already suffer from magpies, cats and sparrowhawks. :(
I know it's the way of things and that everything does what it must to survive, but it seems harsh sometimes.

Cheers,
Toddy

It is similar to male ducks gang attacking females, its nature and its unpolitically correct!

Nature is very harsh but that is one of the enjoyments of watching nature seeing the winners and losers and talking about it ,the bad side along with the good side is how we can gain greater knowledge on the natural world around us.

All woodys have a nasty streak but so do most birds look at the robin, i saw a buzzard take a Greater Spotted Woodpecker to my surprise. It is just the big wonderful circle of life.
