Poor thing split his tail in the heat so I used a bit of home made pine pitch to fill the gap, which seemed to go down ok. Might scrimshaw him up a bit one day.
Used my new gouge to make this which makes hollowing out an absolute doddle http://www.rutlands.co.uk/hand-tools/carving/carving-tools---long-bent/7L/6/long-bent-tools.
The handle feels very comfy for my grip and I can get a decent sized drink of fresh coffee in it too.
