Grass snake

Took the dog out at 1700, & saw him pawing & dancing around something in the undergrowth, as I got up to him I saw it was a grass snake, approx. as thick as my thumb & I estimate at 2ft long. It was standing its ground & striking out at him, so I pulled him away & took a few photo's on the mobile, but I've no idea how to post them & no coverage at home anyway, just wanted to tell someone who'd be interested.

Oh excellent Isn't it great to spot something like that ?
That one's out and about kind of sharpish …well, for up here it is. They're not 'supposed' to exist up here, but I've seen them three times in my life, so they are around.

Good on you keeping the dog from damaging it
The females are bigger than the males, afaik…..JD or Harvestman will know a lot more than I do.

I can't help you with the posting of the photos, but hopefully someone who does know how might chip in and give you a little help.

Hi Adze, I'm with 3, been with them 8yrs in august, never had any problems until I moved in feb. My mobile is my business phone, & on Tuesday I received a text that had been sent 10 days earlier, telling me to go ahead with a job I'd quoted for asap. I phoned them & they said since I hadn't replied they'd given my quote to someone else....

Anyway they are sending me a "box" to boost my signal in the house, if it works great, if not then i'll have to change mobile providers.

Apologies Rob, only just seen this - I meant which handset, rather than which carrier. There's usually more than one way to get photos and other media from a handset.

Gray, if you're within shouting distance of South Cumbria, there's a spot near here where I can pretty much guarantee you can see a grass snake in its natural environment.
