My Mum met her during the war. Mum said she sang for them, and it was absolutely amazing. A beautiful voice, and the songs resonated with the time too.
The memory of her stayed with so many people right to the end of their own days.
RIP Dame Vera, a long life, well lived, with innumerable friendships too.
