Does anyone know where i can get either of these items?

Special Sea and Air services do the Gollock but are currently out of stock and have been for some time. There is apparently some major problem at the factory.
I'm after the full size version not the smaller type you see advertised in some mags for about £15
What would be more useful would be a hard parang but again a quick "google" ooeer missis has not yeilded any satifactory results.

Not sure there are many in this country...people whose views I respect on such things (and there aren't that many) all say valiantco for a parang. Plenty of others do tree beaters and machetes mind you....I have a Becker Brute you can buy if you like ;)

You should do fine with a Martindale if you'll do some profiling work. The reason Red mentioned the Valiants is because a real golok/parang is a whole other ball game. The Bark River golok should be available in Britain but again will be expensive compared to the Martindale.

The Martindale crocadile brand is the one the Army has been using for the last 40odd years. I recentley had some correspondance with the MD of the company and found this out. They also make the machet (machete) and during WW2 they made a kind of Machet cum survival knife for airborne personnel.
Unlike most cheapo machets the martindale is made with a tapered section throughout the blade which has a good effect on the balance and cutting edge. You could do a lot worse for the money. Ive kept my old army tree beater for around 25 years now and its still as good as new.
Ill post some pic's if anybodys interested.

Silkstone, Blighty!
I saw a different version of the issue machete at Oldcotes car boot sale. I think it was in stainless but I'm not sure, but the blade didn't have the wedged, ground angle on it, but a nice smooth convex edge. It just looked nicer!
