There's definitely something wrong. I had almost finished the final sanding when I noticed.

There's a seller on BB called Johnt1102 who specialises in abrasives. I buy mixed grits from 60 to 1200.

Cheers, will look him up sometime this week!

the only thing I noticed on the pictures was the grain direction didn't match, but like i said, it's a fine looking shiny! :)

Cheers to everyone who has replied so far! I very much appreciate all the input!.. and patience! and so with that statement....

Pins and liners!! I would quite like loveless style bolts but is that being a bit optimistic on a first attempt?
and what in peoples experience is the best kind of liner in terms of working with and finish?

I swear you will all be sick of the theory before I start the practical! ;)

That's it!

The grain in that wood was a perfect bookmatch, yet I managed to put one side on the wrong way round. When viewed looking at the spine the grain should match, as if the blade had been wrapped in it.

A good supplier will use the thinnest saw possible, removing as little as possible, to give an even match.

Ive got 3 sets of scales on there way, thought I'd see which I liked most, ordered some spalted boxwood, mainly out of curiosity as I want a nice light coloured handle! :)
