Geocaching

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
I have been a few times and must admit I quite enjoyed it.
I forked out for a Garmin 62s a while back which has the built in geocaching software that I thought I would try out, bit more technological than I usually go when outdoors but I find I'm taking it with me whenever I go somewhere new to try and find a couple of caches.

We Geocache as a family.
As others have said, it make a "Boring" walk more interesting for kids.
We only started in January but have found 96 so far. Not hidden any yet.
I have been surprised at the number of beautiful walks locally that I never knew were local to us.
Not very bushcrafty i know but its gets us all out come rain, shine or even snow.

I do, usually at night. I find it relaxing and comfortable to bee out in the woods at night alone.
I use the same nick on geocaching.com
I've found around 200 but haven't hidden any myself yet.

I found one accidentally on Kinder Scout this weekend! Lost the marked route across and used my compass to navigate over the NW and join up with the Pennine way. Left my spare striker in there :D
