Wow...

Makes it look so effortless too - mark of a real craftsman/woman..

I'm working on my first carving project at the moment - starting easy with a butter knife, hate to think how difficult a spoon will be! (I definitely need to get an axe though - too much hard work with just a knife!)

As the others, looking forwards to seeing the knife-work :)

Bloody hell! you want something a bit sharper than a butter knife for carving!:lmao: :lmao:
No I'm sorry, I couldn't resist that one:D

Don't think you have to have an axe for roughing out, you can always use a saw to do some of the rough shaping by drawing out your design on the billet and then using the saw to cut down to NEAR the lines. you could then knock the bits off and continue with your knife. It is, however very much easier with an axe-with a bit of practice:D

Whatever happens just keep plodding on, despite what some contributors appear to think, spoon carving really is a valuable and relevant skill in the world of bushcraft

just watched the 2nd instalment-This is giving me B.S.G. syndrome (Big Stupid Grin) really good:D
