On July 15, 1923, in Nenana, President Warren G. Harding, who traveled to Alaska to mark the completion of the Alaska Railroad, drove a golden spike into the rails, distinguishing the official completion of the roughly 20-year construction project extending the railroad from Seward north to Fairbanks. The Alaska Railroad is celebrating its 90th “birthday” throughout 2013 by offering all passengers born in 1923 unlimited free passage on the railroad in 2013, among other events. LOL. For the sake of honesty I need to add that the pics aren't mine; they're lifted from the Alaska Travel site.

It is one of the trips on my bucket list.

you will have to do it, it so far away from where you are in so many ways.

The village in the photo reminds me of the TV series northern exposure, i really liked that series and I hate TV.
